Very little news these days can get me to walk around with a grin on my face like a 13-year-old would have after his crush said, “Hey.” to him. Very little news. But, today is that day. I’ve been walking around campus with my cheeks all red, oh and my face is blushing too, because my lord and savior Matias Almeyda, MIGHT, (probably will) be working in the MLS. While I am disgusted with the Mexican Soccer Federation giving him no interest in taking the Head coaching position for Mexico’s National Team, I do feel nothing but butterflies in my stomach for him just getting a job. After hearing the news that he rejected multi-million dollar offers back in June for both Leeds United and a team from Saudi Arabia, or Qatar, or some other oil-rich country, I am genuinely happy he gets to take the reigns of a team relatively close to home.
I’m being told Matias Almeyda is set to be named #Quakes74 head coach tomorrow.
Me comentan fuentes cercanas a los San Jose Earthquakes que Matias Almeyda será el nuevo director técnico de la franquicia.

And while this is all good news, Mati isn’t exactly coming into a position to succeed. San Jose has been such a shit show this season, it makes you think why he even took the team. I mean, when your best player might be Wondo, it might be time to start reshaping the team. Because let’s be honest, taking the coaching position of a team that won 4 games all season, and gave up the most goals this year isn’t really enticing. I’m sure we’re going to find out later on that they offered him a shit ton of money and then they’ll have no money to buy any players.
But hey, not everyone can come into a perfect situation like a Kevin Durant or a Lebron James. No, some people love to be challenged. And while maybe Matias may not succeed as a manager in the MLS, he sure as hell improve a team that hasn’t been relevant since 2012. So here’s to you Mati, may your offseason be filled with joining South American players and less of this shit,
