Now, I know I already have the label as the town moron in soccer media. Scratch that, I’m not even in the town. I’m more like a really poor farmer on the outskirts talking to my 2 cows and 3 chickens about why my hot takes are better than other websites. Well, because there is no paywall here that’s why.
And you aren’t here for a statistical approach as to why an MLS team will win this season. This actually is quite the opposite. So if that’s what you’re expecting, I suggest you go find a paywall somewhere and shove your head up one of the many soccer analysts pundits ass. That way you’ll finally be eye to eye with them.
No. This place, the dark web of soccer blogs, is solely about using zero facts and all donkey brains to explain how I’ll be right. Look, if you don’t believe me, go back and look at my past 2 MLS preview predictions thing. I virtually got all the important sections correct. Maybe it’s because I’m some sort of genius, but it’s probably because of that lucky rabbit’s foot I successfully purchased for $100. It works I swear.
So, you’re now wondering what is going on in my pea-sized brain to think that an MLS team will finally win. I’ll tell you, just because.
Law of averages
It states that anything that can happen will or something boring like that. Look, just simply put, it’s time. MLS 3.0 is in its third year and it’s going strong. It’s now reached the “suck Liga MX dry of its talent” stage. Next is netting a CCL championship. Which I believe is now. Why? Because after beating MX teams there is no competition ahead. I hate to say it, but you can argue all night about how Costa Rica’s league is actually… let me stop you there. I don’t really fucking care.
The Costa Rican league, the Panamanian league, and whatever other island teams that are in this tournament are, well courtesy calls. I am willing to wager the mortgage of my future home (yeah don’t know if that’s happening anytime soon) that a team not from North America will NEVER win the CCL. And don’t try to give me that bullshit about, “But @SnacksBautista a Central American team has won as early as 2005.” Again I don’t care. You know what else happened in 2005, not iPhones so get over it.
A Clear Path to the Championship?

ATTENTION: I DO NOT WANT TO LOSE YOU BEFORE THE END OF THE BLOG SO ILL GIVE YOU MY CHAMPION NOW! LAFC
Admittedly, no team has a tougher route to the finals than LAFC. Let’s see, Rd1 vs Club Leon, who by the way will finish top 3 in consecutive short tournaments in MX. Rd2 presumably vs Cruz Azul who won the new MLS-Mx tournament stupidly named Leagues Cup. Then vs either America or Atlanta United. But let’s be honest, Atlanta isn’t the ATL of 2018 so a battle vs Club America is a tough ask. Only to finish off in the finals vs either Tigres, Seattle or NYCFC. Yes, I am discrediting the other teams’ fuck off.
On the flip side, not including LAFC in the title of this blog means it can be saved by Seattle who has a cupcake route to the finals. Let’s just fast forward to them playing Tigre’s or NYCFC (Nah) in the semis. Then a finals match with whoever gets out of the blood bath of the other side and you have an MLS winner. At least I believe it.
Liga MX isn’t the big bad scary older brother anymore
Volume UP for this one. ⬆️🔊

Sporting KC is beating the brakes off of Toluca, 4-0 on aggregate. Someone stop the fight 😲 pic.twitter.com/60XjCJf2HH
Look, how do I say this without offending the Liga Mx fans. You just aren’t that intimidating anymore. MLS is that little brother that suddenly is just 1 or 2 inches shorter and 10 or 20 lbs lighter. Times have changed. Maybe Liga Mx wipes the board this CCL. Sure it can happen. But sooner or later, their time will come. The little brother will have better talent on the field. They’ll grow another 4 inches, and gain 30 lbs and out muscling them will not be an option. So Liga MX, this is the decline of your CCL dominance. Maybe you win it this year and maybe the next. But just know you ain’t the only bad boys on the map anymore.
