I tell you, no Twitter is as sus as US Soccer Twitter. One second you’re trying to relax on a Saturday, the next we get some wild fucking rant hurled at us. I’m sure by now you have read up on, or seen that some guy went and said some stupid shit on a US Soccer Meeting. Here’s a briefing on what happened…
US Soccer Federation had a meeting, and one topic discussed was the decision to repeal a stupid policy that prevented athletes from kneeling during the National Anthem. Prior to the voting, people came on to voice their opinions in front of council.
So came one Mr. Q-Anon Jahn. A man hell-bent on stopping cancel culture and yelling at clouds on his off days. Jahn is (eventually was) apart of the Athlete Council. He said some wildly inaccurate and stupid things. Here’s what he said,
I think the funniest part is that he thought he was spitting bars. He probably had all these notes typed up and rehearsed it several times. Probably thought to himself, “I’m really going to open their minds with these fire stats. Might get a few votes to be the president which I can say is rigged before it begins.”
So many thoughts go through my head. It’s tough to not want to disparage the name of a person that served for our nation’s military. But serving in the military doesn’t mean you are free from being called a fucking moron. At the end of the day, there is no excuse for stupidity. So, Mr. Q-anon Jahn, I hope you find help soon and don’t have a picture of you storming the capital published soon.
What ensued was was a flurry of apologies and statements from teams and athletes alike. Including a non-apology letter from Q-Anon Jahn which I’ll save your eyeballs from reading. What I will include is a beautifully written letter by Becky Sauerbrunn.
So whats next for USSF?
Simple, cut as many ties with Q-anon Jahn as they can. He’s already been let go from the USSF Athlete Council. There also needs to be more done than just pretty mundane “we are disgusted” statements from the governing bodies of USSF. I’m not asking for a head on a stick. But there also needs to be an example made out of Q-anon Jahn. That there is no place for these types of incredibly moronic statements.
I’m no PR master, but it doesn’t take a genius to know more needs to be done. I’ll end it with a tweet by Kaiya McCullough who is currently playing in Germany. It’s just a few things from her view that could be worked on immediately.
