This is not true… and unfortunately not the first time @AlexVReporting has fed fans rumors as fact. @sltribsports do better, please. https://t.co/0giKvCSR9W

As previously reported by myself and other Big J journalists/reporters like myself, Kelley O’Hara is not being traded to the Washington Spirit. Look we all make mistakes. And it’s important to own up to it. Just gotta go back to the drawing board, triple check with sources, and put out accurate information.
On paper, the trade made little sense. Apart from Kelley being tied to Washington D.C. somehow, I can’t see why the Spirit would execute this trade. The Rose Lavelle trade made lots of sense. Rose wants to play in Europe. Washington wants to win a championship. Rose is very rarely in a Spirit uniform and when she is she’s limited to 1 half. Washington got value out of moving Rose, even if she’s only gone 1 year. It’s a win-win-win in that trade.
WATCH – "We have on our team right now the three or four players who are potentially going to surpass Mal Pugh and Rose Lavelle on our football club"
I talked with @WashSpirit head coach Richie Burke today about trading away USWNT player Rose Lavelle.

But a KO trade makes little sense. Maybe KO wants to be in Washington. But the last thing Washington needs right now is Kelley O’Hara. Sure they could use a high profile player to sell tickets (pfft ikr), but Kelley is a better podcaster than she is footballer right now. She’s probably more focused on slide tackling Joe Rogan than (enter English winger here). So it’s Utah that will continue to field her for 5 games a year, not Washington.
All that being said, considering I was not the first to report said news, I would like to publicly say that I do not take all the blame for spreading the fake news of this trade. Like most of you, I have been hoodwinked, bamboozled, led astray, run amuck, and flat out deceived by the other Big J Journos. I fell into a false sense of security of trusting the other reporters and running with their stories. I need to do better. I’m Sorry!
