Talk about domination. Conceded zero goals all tournament. ZERO. Lots of people talk about feeling bad that we play against bad talent. Look, while it would be nice to play a bit better talent, I would never want this team to not make the Olympics or World Cup.
Look at the MNT. How much shit they get because Costa Rica and Mexico provide some hard competition. Missing the World Cup in 2018 set Men’s soccer in America back a couple years. Think of the disaster that would happen if the WNT failed to qualify for the Olympics or World Cup. Chaos would ensue! I just wouldn’t want that.
So, as long as the US is kicking ass, I don’t want to hear sob stories about how much it sucks that Panama or Haiti or Mexico isn’t good enough to compete. This is Capitalist America. We don’t pickup people while there down. YOU STEP ON THEIR NECK!

The offense played well enough to be their defense. I would bet I ate more pizza slices this weekend, the USWNT goalkeepers have touched the ball all tournament. That midfield looked awesome. Horan was great. Lavelle fantastic. Mewis superb. Hell, even Sullivan was good in her brief cameo.
The bad:

The forwards where, meh. Press and Williams were good. The rest were not. So the fact that two players won’t make the playoffs, and adding a forward like Pugh or a healthy Morgan is probably off the table.
I would like to say that I am worried. Very very worried for Emily Sonnett. We all love Sonny. But…. it was a tough tournament for her. Yes, she showed flashes of great defense. But let’s be honest, she won’t be starting so long as O’Hara and Dunn are healthy. I wish it weren’t true, but even keeping Krieger on the roster gives the team an option at fullback and center back.

I don’t know who will make the Olympic roster. I’m sure there will be 3 or 4 players in the She Believes roster that’ll make the case to be in Tokyo. I hope Sonnett makes it. I hope Sullivan gets a chance. I thought her game vs Panama was incredible. Give her a few more minutes in the SheBelieves Cup and she’ll make an incredible case to be apart the last 18.
Anyway, what a dominant performance from this US team. I’m super excited for the Olympics in the summer. But first, there’s some business in Orlando to take care of.
