Now I’m no social media guru, you probably figured that out by seeing our Instagram and Twitter with historical low followers @BackupAllstars, but I know a fuck up when I see it. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that you don’t just trash former coaches on twitter via the teams Official Twitter Account. Especially not a Mexican national treasure like Chelis. You leave that to petty players and other coaches to write in their memoirs later on. I’ll admit it, I too cannot figure out why Puebla has continued to go bring in new coaches, the fire them after a crap season, and circulate rumors until eventually hiring Chelis as their head coach. It’s baffling. But it takes a special type of asshole to be this disrespectful. Leave that to no name bloggers such as myself.
I think one of the worse parts of that post is that it’s not some, young, and dumb, teenage intern running the account. For sure the person is dumb, but not young. You gotta know what’s appropriate and what’s not appropriate and social media managers should probably have got that one figured out by now. No seriously, Christian Nyari and Paul Rogers are rolling over in their graves just with the very thought of this post, much less it being actually published for the soccer world to see. But hey, it’s not the first time someone in Las Vegas acted like an asshole.
I’m no Nostradamus, but if the Lights next post isn’t, “It only took us one time to learn about bad Social media post,” or something of that nature. Take it from a club that has Elvis as their mascot to try create some sort of rift to cover up this incident. What will it be this year? Bring in a make shift casino on field post-match? Maybe have Celine Dion and Brittany Spears sing at half time? Fire the social media person at halftime? Who knows? Coming from a city whose motto is, “What Happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas,” you’d think they’d be the first to figure out that what happens on the internet stays on the internet.
