Miguel Almiron to Newcastle United. Baby Garber spits on MLS’ growth potential.

This is a huge blow to Atlanta United. Because they’re losing Miguel Almiron? Nope. Because they could’ve had a SUPER TEAM, and the league is openly not letting them have it. Finally, a team in the MLS comes and changes the way it is successful. By bringing in old farts from Europe? Nope. Tata Martino changes the culture and went to get himself some stars from South America. And just when Atlanta was about to have 4 of them, Garber Mutombo finger wags them and spits on the growth of the league. The world loves Super Teams. The Golden State Warriors were valued at $315m dollars ten years ago. That was 18th among all NBA teams. 5 years ago, they ranked 9th at $750m. TODAY, they rank 3rd in the NBA at a WHOPPING $3.1 BILLION. Was this achieved by following the DP rule? Hell no. Gimme all the Super teams. Atlanta, Galaxy, NYCFC all of the above. What’s that? What about teams like the Colorado Rapids? Well, are they going to continue being a Martyr or are they going to spend money to keep up? Don’t play that, “Woe is me,” card. Hell outta here with that. It’s doesn’t play here.

Look, even I could admit that Carlos Vela to Barcelona was a stretch. But you can’t help to get your hopes up when one of your own gets a chance to go and sit on the bench at Barcelona. And I get it, no MLS team could ever compete with Barcelona, at least with Garber in charge. But nothing gets me riled up more than the MLS losing big talent players to China or Saudi Arabia, or even Mexico. These are who don’t even have popular celebrities! Literally, all we have to do is promise these young superstar players a date with a Kardashian and BOOM, the MLS has a new talent. This is the land of the free and home of the unlimited popularity, drugs, and money. What more could these players want? And I know it’ll be a stretch for a Ronaldo, Messi, or even an Alexi Sanchez to make a move to America. But there are players out there that we should one hundred percent have a chance to sign. You are telling me couldn’t get Sandro Wagner from Bayern rather than going to China? Gabbiadini? Pepe? Balotelli? We’ve signed one Higuain before, we’ve could have done it again! Not only that, but Gerber incompetent ways of thinking is about to lose us a Dos Santos brother or even worse Sebastian Giovinco! And while people like to talk about how “competitive,” the league is, I say fuck that! Let’s take a look around the world at truly successful leagues that make BILLIONS of dollars and what their formulas are.

NBA- Salary Cap? Yes. DP Cap? Nope.

NFL- Salary Cap? Yes. DP? Nope.

MLB- Salary Cap? Eh not really. DP? Nope

Literally all European leagues- Salary Cap? Some yes but really not. La Liga has some sketchy shit where teams can’t buy players if they can’t afford them. For example, a little team like Girona can’t buy Cristiano Ronaldo because they can’t afford him? Something like that. Basically, if you’re rich, you can buy a Lambo, or even sneak around and buy a Super Lambo and make it look like you can afford it. But if you’re poor, then you can’t go into debt to buy a Lambo only for resale value. Pretty shitty salary cap “rule”. But more importantly. DP rule- FUCK NO!

You get the pattern now? All these leagues don’t give a fuck how many expensive players you have. Same should go for the MLS. Maybe if Garber gets off his high horse and looks to increase the league rather than stunt it’s growth. #ELIMINATEtheDPRule
