I’m greatly looking forward to kicking off the 2019 MLS season, as it will be my LAST. There will be plenty of time for sentiment later. For now, I am going to enjoy every minute. And as I’ve always done, compete hard and help lead the Rapids with the sole purpose of winning. pic.twitter.com/QWuCcy7gW2

Tim Howard was a loyal servant to the #USMNT. He is also the badass we needed. Never forget. Happy retirement.

I know there are probably a lot of you that didn’t know Tim Howard was still playing. In fact, apart from his suspension for cussing out some fans, Tim really hasn’t made any noise. Okay, he might have made some noise, but not much noise is coming out of the Colorado Rapids. How much longer till they figure out that renaming to the Denver Rapids would be a huge step up? Also, changing the colors might be a good move. The burgundy is ugly and too Aston Villa-y. Let’s be honest, the rebranding of a team’s identity colors has always worked out. It worked for the Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Bucks, Washington Wizards, Charlotte Hornets. Can’t go wrong with a rebrand. Even the Browns rebranded this season and won more than 2 games!
But I digress. This blog is about Tim Howard. The hero of America in the ’14 World Cup. Oh, how close we were from sending baby Hazard and Lukaku back to eating waffles at home. But NOOOOO! Wondomisski had to go and crush all our dreams of getting our asses handed to us by Prime Messi. Gosh, I swear, that miss set soccer in America back another 4 years. It was about to be the sport of the NOW. We had hipsters filling up stadiums and bars all to watch Tim Howard bust his ass the whole tournament, or as the hipsters knew him as, “the bald guy, no not him, the one that just stands there for half the game.”
But to be serious for a second, Tim has had an amazing career. He’s led the US to some huge games and protected the goal like no other. He’ll without a doubt go down as one of the greatest CONCACAF players of all time. We all should be glad he’s inspired the young goalies behind him to carry his legacy. His legacy will be carried on through Brad Guzan and Nick Rimando for years to come. Howard’s name and jersey number will echo through the halls of Old Trafford after his stint at Manchester United. No but seriously he was incredible for American Soccer having played over 350 games in the premier league. Surely we’d be nowhere we are today without what he’s done. No seriously, the defense had always been bailed out by Tim so maybe we make the 2018 WC if he’s not there? Just saying. You can’t not disprove that.
