It is not often you hear about athletes complaining about their work environment. Players like Jimmy Butler, Antonio Brown, and Shaquille O’Neal would roll over in their graves if they heard about the Sky Blue FC players jumping ship. Now, I know what your thinking, why is this fool writing about soccer, clearly he knows nothing. But you’re also thinking, of course they are forcing trades, have you not see. The situation how shady SBFC is running; And I agree. I think no professional sports organization, or literally anywhere on earth, should employees, and outside lookers, know about how shitty conditions are in the work place. Nothing is worse than seeing how all our Made in China stuff is being produced. I mean, there are kids and adults working 16+ hours a day, for an average of $1.75 USD. How am I to sleep in my, very soft and warm blanket, on my very comfortable bed, using an amazing, albeit worn out, pillow, at night knowing all those things were probably made in sweatshops. Now, Chinese sweatshops and Sky Blue FC are very different. One is known for being just the worst thing out there, with its harsh working conditions, totally heartless, and brainless, owners, that don’t give a fuck about their workers, located in a first world country, while its employees live in third world conditions, and the other is Chinese sweatshops.
But enough about living in crappy areas, let’s talk about Chicago. The Red Stars that is. Coming into the NWSL draft (later today) they were STACKED on draft picks. While last season they fell short losing to eventual champions NC Courage, Director of Operations Amber Klimek set the team up to have the 1st, 6th, and 7th first round picks of the NWSL college draft. But just yesterday, the Red Stars sent the 6th pick for Mexican International Katie Johnson (shoutout USC), and later the 7th pick to Washington for the 20th and a first rounder next year. Love to see the, ‘we’re trusting you’re going to suck this year, so we want that pick next year.’ Worked out perfect for Jon Gruden trading Khalil Mack. Oh Wait.
There you have it, Katie Johnson to the Red Stars. A great finisher, with some good ball control, capable of coming down to defend. All around a very good player. Her dabs could use some work, but a good player nonetheless. Stay tuned for a NWSL draft recap or even some not so live coverage possibly.
