You know it’s not often a professional indoor soccer player (GOAT in America?) weaves his way from the depths of indoor soccer to being Bruce Arenas personal executioner? Seriously, is Sarachan Bruce Arena’s personal butler? I mean, you can’t be an assistant to someone for a long time and not know how they like their coffee right? But I digress. NCFC are hiring Sarachan after 6 years with Irishmen Colin Clarke. Zero USL championships later, they were on the hunt for a new coach. What were they expecting? Someone who thought it was a good idea to go from Southampton to P***smouth FC. *throws up in mouth* Can’t expect much from a backstabbing traitor.
But back to Sarachan, what is North Carolina getting with this hire? Well, for one, no one knows in the ins and outs of US soccer like Dave Sarachan. In his time as USMNT interim coach, he consistently was tasked with managing expectations and knowing what his practices and games were about. That they weren’t throw away’s but critical aspects for the development of the USMNT brand. Alongside his experience of leading the USMNT to some kind’ve exciting draws and losses to France and Brazil respectively, he held the coaching job right in my backyard with the Chicago Fire. While things started off hot with a couple of trophies, he lost the battle to transfers of key players going to Europe. And even though he didn’t make it to coach the hunchback of Mexico City and current Governor of Morelos, yeah that’s not a joke, he’s actually a not that respected politician, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, he did pave the way for players like Bakary Soumare, and Calen Carr (shoutout to Calen).
There you have it, Dave Sarachan to North Carolina FC. I almost made this a whole blog about his real chiseled calves, but his well respected career as a coach earned its way to a full blog. JK.. he’s got some savage calves and will probably be Arenas assistant after he takes over as USMNT coach in 2023.
