Oscar: "I don't care if I go to the World Cup or no, I'm only criticized for coming to China, I personally think of my family, and my future. I don't want to get poor when I am old and live on memories that I played in the World Cup." pic.twitter.com/mu4BbXdYk8

Congratulations to Brazilian soccer player Óscar of Shanghai SIPG F.C for confirming his career as a gold-digging snowflake. Look, I get it. You grew up poor and saw a chance to sell-out, so you took it. I will almost never criticize selling out, for I’d sell out quicker than Lebron trades away a player he dislikes. But when you’re in the midst of becoming a top 15 player in the World, taking more money at a much less competitive league, with very few teams, and a very few following is never the answer. Not to mention it’s CHINA. I’m not saying that there is nothing wrong with living in China, but there are far prettier places to live. Living in China<<<< living on a beachfront home in Barcelona. Of course, let us not forget that Oscar was nearing the prime of his career. He had quickly become a regular on Chelsea’s starting XI. Chelsea just came off of winning the Premier League. If you wanted a bigger challenge for your career, go and play in Italy, or for Athletico, not Shanghai. Like seriously soccer players, leave the going to China for the later stages of your career. How could you give up the chance of playing for a World Cup favorite? Maybe Germany forced his retirement with that 7-1 loss. Sorry for the nightmare memories Brazil Fans, but I made too much money that day to not bring it up as often as I can.
Hopefully, everything turns out well for Oscar’s career. I’m just venting because, in 5 years, China’s Super-league has beaten out MLS as a relevant soccer league in the world. For those of you that say money can’t buy you power, just ask any soccer fan on whether they knew that there was a soccer league in China pre-2013. I feel it’s important to note that Guangzhou Evergrande has won the Chinese Super-League the last 7 years in a row.
