Look, I love Drogba. He’s been an iconic figure in soccer for the last 13 years. But this move is Looney toons. The man is an established legend, that will forever be on of the greatest players in Chelsea FC. Most importantly, he can still play. He is probably better than anyone in the USL even in 10 years when he’s 50. We know that him being Owner might have swung him to join, but there is ZERO chance anyone can receive any sort of profit from a USL team.
But shoutout to him, I was hoping he would’ve did the whole, MLS circa again, but USL might be a better rout for The growth of soccer in the US. Getting kids excited about a 2nd division US soccer match could be outstanding. What could’ve been Drogba and Schweinsteiger, became Drogba and Omar Bravo. Though Bravo was very good in his prime, and just 2 years ago, broke Chivas de Guadalajara all time goal scoring record, he also has stained his career by playing in the NASL and now the USL.
But anyway, I wish Drogba the best of luck. Hopefully he reaches the hearts of Phoenix fans and grows the sport of soccer in the US.
Ps. Phoenix was a terrible choice. At least go to good city like Orange County.
